Our goal is to create wines of classic beauty — wines with balance, complexity and harmony. Our signature style has often been described as “an iron fist in a velvet glove,” a reference to the artful balance between ripeness and restraint, softness and structure.

Agronomist

After the St. Moritz dentist Hans-Jörg Liebi sold his dental studio a few years ago, he made his great passion his second profession and bought in the best location in Brisighella – not far from Faenza and Ravenna so close to the border with Tuscany – a run-down but dreamlike and from a winetechnical point of view perfectly located winery on a hill “LA COLLLINA”

With great commitment, care and passion he breathed new life into this piece of wine paradise. In addition to FIVE RED WINES, Hans-Jörg Liebi and his team have also produced a Blanc de noir from Sangiovese grapes.

All of his wines are bottled unfiltered and have great potential.

Wine Lover

The experienced and successful Swiss manager Hans Rudolf Taverna, a true wine lover, has always been fascinated to work on an innovative winemaking project such as La Collina Winery.

This opportunity to produce unique and authentic tastes resulting from a careful and meticulous followed traditional process aimed to identify the best quality organic wines, the upgrade handcrafted winemaking methods and the reality of organic growing has been the main key of being part of the La Collina Winery’s team.

Francesco Bordini is an agronomist, winemaker and consultant in viticulture and œnology.

He believes that it is very important to be an agronomist before being an oenologist. Producing great grapes is the key to producing great wines. His background speaks for his belief. He studied agriculture, business , management, viniculture and oenology.

He is now a consultant for several wineries and agricultural companies in the region of Emilia Romagna, Abruzzen, Umbria and Toscany.

We are very pleased to have him as a consultant for our winery La Collina.

The most rewarding part of what I do is being able to see the full growing season from pruning to bud break through harvest.

Winery With Their Two Boys

Mirja and Yvan met on a wine estate, but their real crush happened under the starry sky of La Collina Winery.

The know-how acquired by their studies as winemakers as well as the unique experiences during their around the world wine tour have contributed to the success of this estate.

They take particular care of each step in the winery: planting young vines and maintaining the plants throughout the year, producing high quality grapes with passion by respecting the terroir to finally give birth to elegant wines.

Philosophy

The soils consist of limestone sand from marine sediments, with a low proportion of loam. The idea of the Collina Crew, based around the well-known agronomists and oenologists Francesco Bordini and Mirja Scarpellini, is to create honest wines of top quality, produced in as natural a way as possible. Naturally, the vines are cared for strictly in accordance with environmentally-friendly criteria, and entirely without the use of herbicides or artificial fertilisers. Romagna is reflected in the bottle.
